Fry is uncancellable, not through being rich like JKR but because he occupies a particular position in the public consciousness.

Dreyfus and Linehan just do not occupy that same position, and Linehan alienated a lot of the people who would have supported him through his previous activities (for which he has now apologised). What happened to Dreyfus is sad because as far as I know he has always been a good guy.
