About 5% were Gay or Lesbian. 10% claimed they were Bi.

The fact that the percentage of Gay and Lesbian barely changes across generations is pretty interesting.

Interesting. So that means 14% are just attention-seeking. Though I would argue that a third of women who claim to be bisexual are straight, and just say they're bi just because they think it makes them seem more interesting.

It’s difficult to say anything definite without more info, but I suspect that if they released a breakdown by sex there would be some interesting differences between men and women. I also suspect that that if they surveyed men with “have you ever slept with a dude?”, and women with “have you ever slept with a woman?” the results would drastically alter the findings of the polling, and might align with your suspicions.

Oh and fucking define “Queer”…because that shit is ridiculous.

"Queer" means weird or perculiar. Until a few decades ago, most people thought gay people were weird, and a lot of people still do nowadays. To be fair, a lot of gay and bisexual people are weirdos - wearing a dress when you're a man, having sex with multiple people in one night, or wanting to tell children about anal sex is weird as fuck.

I guess that a lot of people who call themselves "queer" really are queer after all.

My problem with… no, one of my problems with the term “queer” as used today is that it is so ill-defined that women, and it is usually women, can call themselves “queer” and take a spot on a float at Pride yet be married to a man with kids and do absolutely nothing, beyond maybe having dangerhair and a pierced nose.

I fully recognise that as a straight man I have fuck all say in any of this, but as someone who used to work with stats for a living it annoys me to have people touting statistics with an undefined term and then touting them as important and meaningful.

As a member of society, you get a lot of say in this, because this shit is seeking to affect everything in society, from language to personal freedoms.

A lot of straight women become "queer" so they can tell gay men what to do without repercussions.
