Irish society’s secular liberalisation

Lol. Lmao even.

Edit: Having read the whole thing, this is just a predictable fluff piece from the Guardian. Once again they're pushing the no advantage route by repeating the "I can't do stuff I was used to be able to" or "Some of those women are stronger than I am", fundamentally misunderstanding (let's face it intentionally) what an advantage actually is in a sporting context.

Did you spot how they deliberately didn’t print a picture of the stunning and brave individual. Seems like a pretty big change to journalism, to curtail their reporting to spare the feelings of the subject.

The Guardian agreed not to publish this or any photograph that identified Valentino, who has been harassed. “Safety is a privilege that doesn’t belong to trans people,” she said.

Special rules for certain groups.

Yes, I'm sure safety is their sole motivator and not at all because even they know this is hard to defend: https://imgur.com/a/F7Gn4GX

That's absurd... are people seriously accepting calling that balding man making zero effort a woman, or did someone edit the photo to make it look even more ridiculous?

[–]Datachost 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Not edited at all to my knowledge. Considering his LinkedIn profile picture also shows him as a whole arse bald man he genuinely seems to think everyone has to go along with it. That's probably part of the thrill really, obviously looking like a man, but getting everyone to say you're a woman

Wow that is really something. You're probably right that forcing people to bend over and call him a woman is half the fun, I don't know why else he wouldn't make even a tiny bit of effort to look female. I love that the referee had the balls to stand up for sanity and refuse to play along.

Good. Women voted for shit like this, let them live with it. Make it as obvious as possible that's a MAN and he is BEATING you and replacing you in your own spaces. These over socialized twats have it coming. Accelerate.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the photo they talked about.

He looks like Putin.

I noticed that right away. It's because as the old saying goes "a picture paints a thousand words".
The Guardian and their ilk have to work very hard to defend the indefensible. Why undermine that by showing a photo?

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Blah blah, stunning and brave, blah blah definitely no threat to female players in this full contact sport, blah blah. And here’s a photo.

“Oh fuck, it’s the hulk!” <-literally everyone outside the bubble.

“Safety is a privilege that doesn’t belong to trans people,” she [sic] said while enjoying a special privilege for the sake of safety.

What?

The fact you never see stories about trans-men playing on the men's team, and the fact nobody would really care if they did just proves the whole equality of the sexes in sports argument null.

Unfortunate truth people don't want to understand, women's leagues are essentially a handicap league, and in the context of sports performance being female is a performance handicap. So having males playing on the female league really is no different than having adults play on the childrens league. Or having sighted people play on a blind league.

Most people understsnd this goes against the primary idea of sports trying to keep the game fare and competitive. Which is why nobody really cares about the odd trans-person who is not athletically inclined playing on an otherwise casual or mixed league. But these people are convinced that it's all about fun and not sportsmanship. And that gives an in for the psychopaths that want to win at all cost and think dominating the competition due to unfair advantages is fun because winning is all that matters. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I highly suspect these people transitioned precisely so they can play on the women's league and win. I think they are pretending to be trans in order to win. You may say nobody would go through that just to win, I give you steroids and the massive negative effects those give as a counter argument. Sports retards are absolutely willing to destroy themselves in order to win.

Shit, there are rumours of China intentionally crippling athletes to be competitive in the Paralympics. Considering they went from 6th in golds and 8th in totals to 1st in both within four years I could believe that. And even 20th in golds and 22nd in totals to 1st in both in the Winter Paralympics between 2018 and 2022, something fucking stinks there. I'm willing to believe there are individuals and countries that will pull any trick necessary to win.

Countries absolutely will cheat at the Olympics to win but I'd be wary of such overt rumors, propoganda game works both ways.

There's a pretty simple theory for Chinese dominance in such events which is that the massive population means you've got a massive population of disabled people to draw from and more people to draw from means a higher chance of getting exceptionally talented individuals.

Expect India to dominate the Olympics as their economy improves and people can dedicate their lives to sports rather than avoiding starvation.

China is a country that is apparently a bottomless pit of human rights violations. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, they pull out the executed prisoner organ harvesting, and you think that’s as low as it can go and you find out that they’re doing it to Uighers, and you think, well it can’t get any worse than that and you find out they’re taking hearts from living people to sell.

I swear one day we are going to find out that they are literally woodchippering toddlers to produce the red dye for paper napkins or some shit.

It would be really funny to see the Chinese reactions to drag queen story hours though I doubt the drag queen would survive the experience.

Irish society's secular liberalisation

It all happened in one generation, in case you think Poland won’t go down the same path. I’m glad you can now get divorced if the marriage is damaged beyond repair, and that consensual private homosexuality is no longer a crime. But we’ve just went from one extreme to the other.
