Oh definitely. I guess my pet theory is that there's a lot of money involved in this, from big pharma for sure but also think tanks and lobby groups. All this might be a stealth ad campaign for hormones and related medical institutions but it seems the institutions(well, Tavistock) have pressure from interest groups(Mermaids). Whether they're sponsored by big pharma or someone else I really don't know.

It's a headache.

they're probably doing what big pharma does re: depression meds, which is feed the individualistic mentality, discourage the idea that society plays a role (pathology), and then get kids hooked on lifetime medications.

it just becomes very easy for them over time because they don't really need to convince people of anything; people are all too happy to label themselves broken and hand their lives over. so it's like astroturfing, but it sort of handles itself...which makes it far easier to deny doing. just gotta get the snowball rolling.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case, given the track record. Just the overmedication of kids, esp in the US is grotesque.

Teens and autistic people seem especially vulnerable to whatever it is that's causing the issues. I really wonder what the catalyst is, because it certainly is effective.

i just call it narcissism in the broadest sense. image obsessed, narrative obsessed, sex obsessed culture that raises everyone from a young age to believe they're the main character and the only things that matter in life are the things done in view of others. no stable family life, TV raises us, and movies set the standard for our goals and accomplishments.

add autism/social awkwardness to a narcissist and it isn't a big leap imo to them making their identity and body into a spectacle. mentally i see no distinction between being trans and having too much plastic surgery. all narcissism.
