I wouldn’t normally link an article from Spiked, they’re perennial contrarians and I’m fairly sure that if transgenderism were the minority opinion they would side with it (they are after all the same people, Living Marxism, who sided with the Serbs during the Balkans war and lost a libel case when they claimed journalists had fabricated the genocide and other war crimes). But, this review is pretty amusing.

Remember when oppression meant the government brutally denying you the rights and freedoms enjoyed by everyone else? Now it means blokes agonising over whether or not to paint their nails. Seriously. In his new book None of the Above: Reflections on Life Beyond the Binary, nonbinary writer Travis Alabanza cites this dilemma as proof of the ‘oppression [of] the gender binary’. He introduces us to Steve, a man who had ‘wanted to paint his nails for years’. But he didn’t because, like the rest of us cis squares, he’d been conditioned into ‘upholding the gender binary’ which says men don’t do that. One day, though, after seeing one of Alabanza’s theatre shows, Steve plucks up the courage to paint his nails neon yellow. Alabanza is moved by this brave strike against the forces of oppression. ‘My urge was to hug him’, he writes. Free at last! Thank God Almighty, free at last!

Lol. All the emos and goths I knew in school painted their nails. Didn't make them any less male as far as I knew, just men who painted their nails. Some people just enjoy making their own problems.

Yeah. Heck, I've had to paint my nails in order to cover up some psoriasis in the nailbed and make them look normal. Heck, sometimes I'd put my hair in pigtails because the hair just goes better there. And yet, I'm still a male and recognize myself as such. No matter what happens, it just IS.

Like honestly, at this point the only people who care is yourself. People see a lot weirder out there in this day and age and let's be real most of us are too wrapped up in our own lives to care if a stranger is doing that. Like pigtails and nail paint the worst I think is probably "someone is having a stag do, hope they have fun" Pretty sure they all identify as men still too lol.
