Gender ideology is a religion.

Objecting_Sphere 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

Exactly. It seems many unintelligent people are unable to exist without some guiding dogmatism in their life. So when they were deprived of traditional religion, they adopted a new dogmatism. I'm afraid true free thought is only possible for a minority who are destined to be persecuted by the sheeplike masses.

Q-Continuum-kin 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

The big issue is that these people have the same persecution complex but it gets viewed as a civil rights issue instead of whiney religious people trying to proselytize.

It's as if the end times preacher who stood on a soap box in the middle of campus and was scoffed at was given a classroom to teach and every HR department is bowing down to him.

Edit - also btw i believe it's in our DNA to be predisposed to religion. It's part of natural selection to have a sense that "everything happens for a reason." If you hear a bush rustle it's better to assume it might be a lion stalking you than to ignore it as random. When culture evolved we had less to worry about but the sense transfers over to say... the sun comes up every day, must be the sun god. Or now some man is like "I'm not masculine enough to be a man... must be a woman."

It's not so different from how religion was treated a few generations ago. Opposing religion used to be seen as a sign of a morally degenerate person. And I agree, there is a certain instinct to attach yourself to a popular belief system and power-wielding orthodox group. Only those with superior commitment to truth will buck the trend.

Part of the reason why most thinkers nowadays think a true atheist is very rare. Many people who claim to be so wind up joining another form of religion either as the woke, partisan politics, or the satanic church. I'm not kidding about the satanic church part.

Q-Continuum-kin 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

The satanic church is there to troll religious people.

All it did is help clump the insanely stupid into one group. Now we can confidently know who to keep out of our lives.

People are getting dumber regardless. At least the traditional religions promoted morality, forgiveness, discipline and self improvement.

exiled_from_reddit 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

this doesn't sound like a rational take. Average IQ stagnated in many developed nations, in some places it decreased, but only a little.

And if traditional religions look to you like they have significant benefits, it's only by comparison with woke lunacy.

fschmidt 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun 1 year ago

Yes, religious morons are better than atheist morons, but neither is acceptable to me. Don't you think it is worth dealing with the moron problem?

Yes. Morons are a problem regardless of their religious believes.

As some day it may happen that a victim must be found I've got a little list — I've got a little list Of society offenders who might well be underground And who never would be missed — who never would be missed! There's the pestilential nuisances who write for autographs — All people who have flabby hands and irritating laughs — All children who are up in dates, and floor you with 'em flat — All persons who in shaking hands, shake hands with you like that — And all third persons who on spoiling tête-á-têtes insist — They'd none of 'em be missed — they'd none of 'em be missed!

[Chorus] He's got 'em on the list — he's got 'em on the list; And they'll none of 'em be missed — they'll none of 'em be missed

[KO-KO] There's the nigger serenader, and the others of his race And the piano-organist — I've got him on the list! And the people who eat peppermint and puff it in your face They never would be missed — they never would be missed! Then the idiot who praises, with enthusiastic tone All centuries but this, and every country but his own; And the lady from the provinces, who dresses like a guy And who "doesn't think she dances, but would rather like to try"; And that singular anomaly, the lady novelist — I don't think she'd be missed — I'm sure she'd not he missed!

[Chorus] He's got her on the list — he's got her on the list; And I don't think she'll be missed — I'm sure she'll not be missed!

[KO-KO] And that Nisi Prius nuisance, who just now is rather rife The Judicial humorist — I've got him on the list! All funny fellows, comic men, and clowns of private life — They'd none of 'em be missed — they'd none of 'em be missed And apologetic statesmen of a compromising kind Such as — What d'ye call him — Thing'em-bob, and likewise — Never-mind And 'St— 'st— 'st— and What's-his-name, and also You-know-who — The task of filling up the blanks I'd rather leave to you But it really doesn't matter whom you put upon the list For they'd none of 'em be missed — they'd none of 'em be missed!

[Chorus] You may put 'em on the list — you may put 'em on the list; And they'll none of 'em be missed — they'll none of 'em be missed!

But the mainstream orthodoxy has always shut that down anyway, so there's little difference.

Neo_Shadow_Lurker 13 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 2 fun 1 year ago

Eh... I think you're forgetting of Atheism+ and how it caused a giant division within atheist communities.

I would argue that the genesis of modern wokeism was idpol and intersectionality, not atheism/neoatheism.

Even before Atheism+ a huge number of atheists were already getting alienated with the sudden shift of focus that was already in progress on major atheist circles, many which abandoned religion as a subject to push woke identitarian bs.

The funniest thing of all is that this exact process also happened with feminism and gay rights movements: once major victories were achieved, they all shifted focus to the next trendy social justice cause, which was transgenderism.

On_WheelsWe need to secure the existence of the gay race 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

There was enormous split among the atheist "community" over idpol and if I remember correctly Islam. It pretty much killed the community, by splitting it in half.

The funniest thing of all is that this exact process also happened with feminism and gay rights movements: once major victories were achieved, they all shifted focus to the next trendy social justice cause, which was transgenderism.

Never thought about it, but it did happen. Like a mistletoe parasiting off of other major social movements.

Vulptexghost fox girl ^w^ 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun 1 year ago

Usually the religious ones are just pedo priests, who often rage about "sexual sin" but either think this is okay or deny doing it.

Alienhunter糞大名 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun 1 year ago

It's the modus operandi of the pedophile to seek out positions of authority that give them access to children. Be that the church, education, boy scouts, doesn't matter what.

Nothing special about religion here frankly, though I do think the confession box do make an environment for Catholics that allows for pedophiles to thrive in that environment specifically. Guy gets to hear about all the impure thoughts of his underage congregation in private. For the pedophile makes it super easy to find victims, and since his colleagues will likely be celibate they might not even understand normal sexual activity anyway and be blind to the wolf amongst them.

I'm an Atheist but I was brought up in a Christian culture and I appreciate its emphasis on community, family and tradition. I think a lot of people need that in their lives.

But I think this argument is wrong. It's not a lack of religion that's to blame for gender ideology; it's a lack of critical thinking skills. Our public education system has seriously devolved. Kids are no longer being taught how to think, they're being taught what to think. And the people teaching them what to think are cultural Marxists.

fschmidt 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun 1 year ago

The problem isn't just education. Modern culture is dysgenic. See Idiocracy for the core problem.

Vulptexghost fox girl ^w^ 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun 1 year ago

Christian culture isn't the same anymore. It's still on "community, family and tradition", but it's now all reactionary identity politics, and suddenly they want to go back to monarchy and 1950s gender roles and all kinds of mistakes of the past after being the ones who defeated them in the first place. They secretly hate Jesus and think he's a poor example to follow because he's "weak" and doesn't allow them to persecute their enemies, which seems to be their sole reason for existing at the moment. Many of their new values blatantly contradict their own book, such as saying not being in a hyper-traditional marriage with children by the age of 20 is sinful, when this is in fact praised multiple times in the Bible, and they don't care.

This is only a very recent development, I'd say no earlier than a few years ago, sparing the fringes which have always existed. Prior to that this was the stereotype, but it was false until now.

For example: The Chinese government is sterilizing Uyghurs (you need the correct spelling to search on google btw). Basically, they're genociding them because they're "in the way". What's your argument against that? That it's mean?

We can make an argument that God created all people in his image and that all people are equal in the eyes of God. WHETHER GOD EXISTS OR NOT. Since it's unfalsifiable - that part is irrelevant. BUT if a high enough percentage of people don't believe in that then we HAVE NO GROUND TO STAND ON ANYMORE. Get it?

u/JasonCarswell

JasonCarswellSisyphus / Ouroboros 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun 1 year ago

I still don't understand you.

Everyone is born with all the rights to do anything you want (including all the bad things). If you're stranded on an island you are free to do anything you can. When there is more than one, it all changes. Only social limitations will remove any "rights" and mafia governments can only take your rights away, never able give you any rights you already had. It first starts from the fundamentals of Natural Law (applicable to all species) in small groups - that you do not transgress (deceive, steal, harm, kill) against others of your kind, and from there it gets more complex as the tribes, cities, nations, or schools of thought grow along with more corrupting centralized power that manipulate and exploit "us vs them" conflicts.

Fuck equality in the eyes of God and fuck God and his image as he's an irrelevant mythical fiction and we're not all equal. But for social stability and cohesion we must be fair and treat each other equally in a bottom-up meritocracy. Everything else is political corruption.

Perhaps you're arguing that without God people would not have reason to lead moral unselfish lives. Finding subjective meaning in things (largely in helping others), leads to purpose, building fulfillment, and accumulates joy in life - but our enslavement training and consumerist culture is broken our spirits intentionally in an infinite number of ways distracting and destroying most people's hopes leaving little else besides the hustle. Most people simply don't have the ability to understand this much less the curiosity to search for deeper richer lives - thus they suffer a slow painful death by infinite cuts.

If gender ideology is a religion, then it's actually religion that ruined an entire generation. Think about it. Religion should mean the search for spiritual meaning, enlightenment, understanding, peace. It should be something awesome. But we all know religion for most people is just dogmatic tribalism that sometimes demands you dehumanize others or accept dogma as fact.

JasonCarswellSisyphus / Ouroboros 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun 1 year ago

How about the religion of mafia government, a blind faith in authority with capitalist, communist, conservative, and liberal sects? Or the religion of $cientism? Any cult big enough is called a religion, culture, or "way of life".

Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 1 year ago

Religion is dogmatic by nature. One does not have to be religious to believe in God. One can also be an Atheist at heart while still practicing religion.

Dogma has it's place in society it just needs to be kept in balance. Too much dogma and creativity and thought is discouraged and society will fail to adapt as necessary. Too little and society will adapt too quickly without direction and will die.
