I cant figure out how this thing is meant to work. You set up a website or something. It also costs USD $40 a month (or 400 minds tokens).

It would be a good thing to use if you're a big Minds channel or a shop or something.

edit: it doesnt cost USD $40 a month. It costs USD $50 a month unless you take a yearly subscription which costs $40 a month.

Wow that's quite pricey!

A couple people in the last few years mentioned that they'd like a paid-only zone for saidit, or a site like saidit, just because it filters out the bots and low-effort people. But the problem is that there'd be almost no one there... not sure how minds is overcoming that hurdle, other than by seeding content themselves

On Minds you can pay to be verified which costs $5 or 19 tokens a month ($7mon/20 tokens on the monthly plan). This gives you a badge, hides ads, and allows access to exclusive content.

There doesnt seem to be any advantage of Minds Pro over the verified version. Minds pro gives you a website, but most people who are verified already have their own websites.

If I used Minds every day I'd probably become verified, but I check it infrequently.

edit: I'd pay money for Saidit. I have no idea what kind of features that a paid Saidit would have. User muting would be worth paying for.

Well... we do survive on donations, and we like giving all the features to everyone instead of gatekeeping cool features for money. https://www.patreon.com/SaidIt https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/jf/cryptocurrency_support_for_saiditnet/

Thanks for the info about minds, that's very interesting, I had no idea they had a pay structure like that.
