If we're going to ban people for saying things we don't like I could have just stayed on reddit.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (18 children)

Sometimes I see Reddit as an alternative to Saidit. :-)

[–]jet199 5 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

Good, go there.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

You're one of the more liberal people here, reddit eats that shit up.

[–]RightousBob 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun -  (14 children)

You should close your saidit accounts and go back to reddit.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (13 children)

Why?

[–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 5 fun -  (12 children)

To do many of us a great favour.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (11 children)

What's the favour - Jason? What is the problem with me at Saidit?

(It's interesting to see your note here, as I've been very supporttive of you and Dio in the past and there have been numerous conversations. It's interesting to me that you agree with Bob. I am somewhat surprised, but perhaps shouldn't be. Bob and others very much want an echo-chamber at Saidit that will not have much depth, and will continue to push corporate disinformation and misinformation while they claim that they're doing the opposite. I appreciate that you may also want to do this, but perhaps with a different kind of echo chamber. Also, /u/magnora7 knows much more about your shenanigans than I do, and I wonder what's at issue. I know something of his history and think that he has a very good eye for identifying dangerous extremism and doesn't really want to tolerate it. As with discussions with /u/TheAmeliaMay and /u/AmericanMuskrat and several others, there is often an agreement that Saidit will grow and be more interesting if it diversifies. But many here don't want that.)

So - I am interested in your opinion, Jason - why should I go?

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Like Bob3 (not to be confused with "righteous" RightousBob) you are only insightful part-time and annoying shit-disturber the other part, though more polite and a naïve supporter of the establishment, MSM, scientism, and authoritarianism - and by complicity or complacency, support all the evil shit the mafia corporatocracy does.

Recently being less contrarian doesn't erase your history. That will take time to fade out and evidence that you're evolving. Everyone evolves, and I only hope you can too.

I don't care about tribes nor echo-chambers, but they do exist and should be considered.

Shenanigans is a choice grey word. I can easily deny this or I can admit to some - all depending on how you choose to define it. Even M7 has not clearly defined what I actually did wrong in the past the many times he's threatened me.

I know more about M7's shenanigans too. I've refrained from openly compiling them for people to see or use against SaidIt. I am NOT against M7 and certainly not against SaidIt.

I am not remotely "dangerous extremism", if that's what you're implying, and I have zero evidence that DioJr was either. Stop kissing the ass of authority. Shake off your brainwashing and obedience training.

I am not against diversification in many ways you may define it. I don't know why you brought it up - or half this other shit.

You are a time suck. No more today.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Sorry to waste your time, Jason. Don't feel obligated to respond.

In answer to your note, "I don't know why you brought it up":

/u/RightousBob said to me: "You should close your saidit accounts and go back to reddit."

I asked: "Why?"

You wrote: "To do many of us a great favour."

I asked you: "why should I go?"

I don't think you answered it, at least not directly. No need to reply.

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I answered, but since you're being obtuse, as is often the case, I'll clarify.

I answered for RightousBob, "To do many of us a great favour." I didn't say "me" but I do have one foot in that camp, too. My other foot appreciates you when you're rational and thinking freely.

Neither would be a problem if your obtuse blind faith in corporate media, "experts", and authoritarianism didn't clog up SaidIt feeds.

Naively or intentionally defending evil authoritarians drags conversations down far more often than my occasional posts about ways to improve Saidit or even my more rare M7-infuriating crass behaviour that is actually extremely mild and restrained compared to what my vivid imagination and poetic license to kill could inflict on people - without even using images. If LXXX/MoronLeft weren't so dense and even employed 1/100th of my creativity in this or other ways they just might even be amusing asstrolls. Same with you.

On the other hand you make a fine devil's advocate punching bag, thus for normie sheeple readers, you raise their questions and skepticism so that others may expose your brainwashed and fallacious ideas, again and again and again, ad nauseum.

The better SaidIt question is for you: Why do you have so much blind faith in the rigged systems of "authority" and their monopoly on violence that manipulate, deceive, dominate, oppress, exploit, and now openly harm you? (Via taxation, war on drugs, prisons, propaganda, war on terror, denial of healthcare, lockdown, masks, vaccines, food prices, food shortages, police state, etc.)

You should study /s/Voluntarism, aka anarchism, for rational, logical, reasoning to break down all your blind beliefs in authority - the ultimate goal. If you're confident in your beliefs but willing to change with better ideas then you should be able to take on the challenge. Use your own mind to determine what you believe. Ultimately voluntarism is fundamental Natural Law. I'll call myself a voluntarist or anarchist for brevity but really I'm a minarchist and support cooperatives because 100% anarchism is the goal but never achievable nor stable because people will be free to form mobs, mafias, governments, etc. Regardless how you define minarchism or which parts of government you want to minimize, smaller is always the better direction.

Thanks for the response. As we've discussed previously, we're both pissed with the 1%, but have very different approaches to them.

I never know. He takes all of this so seriously. He needs a vacation.

If I've misread this and the responses from Bob and Jason are to you, and not to me, my questions to them are the same, though about other users.

The way I see it: an anti-censorship website, with users who don't like censorship, ceases the appearance of having active anti-censorship users when a noticeable proportion of the most active users want to censor other users.

    [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

No one wants to censor you. Suggesting you find a better fit is sound logic, though it also builds echo-chambers - and diminishes conflict, drama, and debate.

I think you're misreading that, the 4 people they're talking about "doing something about" are Socks, Bob3, ChipIt, and Airbus.

Seems like not a month goes by without saidit interpersonal drama.

      [–]Zapped 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

The more people that think that way, the more traction this site gets.

      [–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

That's a bullshit response! It's NOT the point, "doing something" does not necessarily mean banning. We don't have ANY say or control in who or how people are banned on Reddit OR on SaidIt.

The other day I day I intentionally stooped to fighting fire with fire.

M7 has warned me and again for comparatively minor infractions, exposing his obvious hypocrisy because I've never seen him spank the ABCs of SaidIt (Airbus, Bob3, Chipit, and sometimes socks) who are obviously shit disturbing with immunity. Read my responses if you give a shit.

I will resume my previous average level above the fray.

      [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

      That's a bullshit response

It's a popular response, I am not the only one who feels this isn't productive.

M7 has warned me and again for comparatively minor infractions, exposing his obvious hypocrisy because I've never seen him spank the ABCs of SaidIt (Airbus, Bob3, Chipit, and sometimes socks)

I usually skim past the fights on here, they don't interest me. People going to get mad and fight though, it's human. I'm certainly not perfect about it, but I do try. I'm all for less of it, but more moderation, whether it directly or indirectly results in people leaving isn't the solution to a healthy site.

My suggestion is we all relax, have a bong and a blintz. It's Friday after all.

      [–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

I don't like drama either. The ABC STABs brought it to me, then scatter when M7 decides to chime in at me instead of them. I'm just calling it out. Feel free to correct flaws in my reasoning.

How would you go about proposing improvements to SaidIt when the admin is coasting without goals, plans, or a future, offering no solutions and resisting any efforts for developing things?

      [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Feel free to correct flaws in my reasoning.

There's a reason people scatter when admins show up. It's like when a flock of gazelles spot a lion. Self preservation.

How would you go about proposing improvements to SaidIt when the admin is coasting without goals, plans, or a future, offering no solutions and resisting any efforts for developing things?

They just improved the icons man. New user literally comes on, offers better icons, and boom -- they implement it. I like hands off moderation myself. And the improvements -- and we agree on a number of them -- I'd like to see are pretty intensive work.

      [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

If I wasn't confident or trying to improve things I wouldn't be persisting. I'm both.

I've faced off with M7 several times before. I've been in the right and/or left wondering what exactly triggers him. The first time I was devastated and confused for months. I came back and refuse to be intimidated. I guarantee if he bans me it will be worse for him. I won't seek childish vengeance or anything. This is not a threat, it's his credibility on the line too. I stand by everything I've said and done, admit my errors, and regret only that I haven't/couldn't do more.

I came on Nov 15 and I made the new SaidIt logo in January and M7 finally added it in May, if I recall. Don't know why the delay. Maybe he needed a lawyer to make sure my gift was his. I urged him to open source it. Soon after I did the PoD. I also offered to improve the icons and other stuff years ago. The new icons are great. I can still improve them with a few more tweaks, but I'm not aiming to steal anyone's glory so I've been laying low on that front.

What are your improvement ideas? Since d3rr withdrew I don't expect any radical improvements to SaidIt functionality, much less management, especially with the current asstroll infestation. I'd love to be proven wrong. That's why I'm looking beyond SaidIt for the future, then I hope to pull it along somehow if possible.

      [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

      What are your improvement ideas?

Ultimately I think saidit should port to its own codebase written from scratch. Although with all this displeasure over the icons not being perfect right away makes me think no matter what, people are here because they're happy with how things are and don't necessarily want change. Really, you can't please everyone. I know you want lots of subs, I want no subs but with a way for people to still see what interests them with filters. Instead of opting in to content, you opt out of it except for nsfw/extreme content.

Decentralization would be nice, so would crypto tipping rather than upvotes. And while I love the icq chat idea, one room or just a handful is probably better than a room for every sub.

I came on Nov 15 and I made the new SaidIt logo in January and M7 finally added it in May, if I recall

Way better response time than you'd ever get from reddit.

      [–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

How about a migration to Lemmy with decentralization? At least for the time being. Then maybe we can build Phoenix Forum and/or just build Lemmy up into being a Phoenix-like or even fork it.

I have another good name that's also kind of fun and with so much potential that I feel I need to keep it from the public for now, just in case. I could PM you if interested.

" people are here because they're happy with how things are and don't necessarily want change "

You don't know that. Sure things are better here than anywhere else IMO. But there's always room for improvement. And, if they don't know what could be then they'll just settle for what is.

I don't want a lot of subs for no reason. I want topical subs, (different than community subs, project subs, blog subs, etc) to be a better research tool.

Like you, I would rather there be no subs, but metatags and filters and favourites (like multisubs). Yes, I've always supported opt-out of subs (was better before the explosion of sub chaos). I would also LOVE for there to be a hierarchy classification of subs. For example: music, games, movies, tv, celebs - all under entertainment. Wikipedia has "categories" which would be great to mimic. Crypto rewards would be wonderful. Maybe I'd be rich by now, or maybe I'd be same ol same ol broke ass. I'll never know. Yes! I said the many chat rooms was too much. Better if folks could make rooms as necessary, private or not. Reddit is a corporation, comparing them is like comparing apples and A Clockwork Orange. I've never given a fuck about Reddit.
