In my industry, the largest player is "owned" by venture capitalists. And I'll bet you all that I have, that they will be closing branches, stopping acquisitions, firing people, and blaming the salesman when the shit hits the fan in the near future when the whole "fuck you pay me" conversation happens.

Meanwhile, my independently owned company I work for quietly sells 35 percent of the market, everyone is paid, everyone has security, high service levels, and has the smarts to endure what's coming, instead of relying on aquisitions to make us look like we're actually selling something.
