Some good points in there.

When the invention of the internet allowed anyone to share their thoughts with the world, originally it at least required a minimum cost of entry by building your own website and creating a space of your own where your ideas could be found and considered. Only then through the magic of earning links based on the value of your work to like-minded people who also put in some creative effort of their own could your voice be amplified to gain a wider reach.

For that, I respect this author for posting on their own personal website, since the lazy alternative is signing up for any one of the social media sites (including this one) and writing some stupid shit into a text box. It's zero-cost, and hence too easy to amplify garbage. I absolutely recognize my own hypocrisy here.

Then, the article took a somewhat strange turn here:

Without social media though [...] I would have never questioned my gender

This I found interesting, because I got the completely opposite take from what I think the author intended here: without social media, the author wouldn't have been exposed to subcultures reinforcing unhealthy ideas in groups, and been led to believe in some fantasy about their own physical body! It's exactly the same as saying that without social media, someone else wouldn't have fallen down a different conspiracy rabbit hole... What an interesting blind spot.

You can't deny that the person who wrote this is still objectively female or male in the physical realm, yet the modern internet enables a non-physical existence that too easily enables us to lie to each other, and by extension to ourselves—even about our tangible physical selves to the point that self-doubts expand until we believe impossible things! It's like people's minds are just made of whatever we absorb.

Cooperating/associating with people who want to control everything under the sun, is a mistake!
