The thing is we have a massive history of gay spies betraying the country. This stuff isn't just a PC issue. Who people get in relationships with and their values really affects security. One of the gay spies who went over the Russian literally said he did it because capitalism was ugly and he preferred the soviet aesthetic. And he managed to convince other gay men to join him with that crazy logic.
