The poor canary had a sad and lonely death, squatters took over the household and starved it while they plucked it's feathers out one by one.

In the end the squatters nailed it to a cross and let the housecats attack it while the squatters praised the cats and ridiculed the poor bird.

The squatters never had a funeral, they just threw the canary in the toilet and flushed it down. Then the squatters gave the house cats the same treatment.

The squatters never left and have now taken over the neighborhood, there are no pets left in the neighborhood and they plan to start attacking the other inhabitants of the neighborhood. They will pick on the weak ones first, like all bullies do. Eventually there will be no original inhabitants left.

The squatters are the virus that start all wars and imprison those that refuse to play their games. They now run this Saidit neighborhood that once supported freedom of speech but it now just a data collection point for the three-letter agencies.
