If there is "a god" I highly doubt he is receptive to petition. That's a very silly thought. Jim Morrison had a few things to say about that.

Not only is there a God, but he is our Heavenly Father. He made man in his own image, so we are his children. What father would not listen to the petitions of his own children?

If so then who or what made God? How can a question be answered with more questions? I don't claim to know anything. I just know that I do not know. You have a great deal of confidence in your "knowing" without any evidence.

That's called faith.

I appreciate that you admit to your ignorance. I am also ignorant about many things. It is good for us to be humble.

It is fair for you to ask questions. God will not rebuke you for asking, but expects you to use the intellect he gave you to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions about the purpose and meaning of life. You are 100% responsible for the conclusions you make. Every man shall receive according to what he has done in his short, trial life. And every idle word that man speaks, he shall give an account thereof in the day of judgement.

I used to be like you, and told people that I was agnostic, and didn't know what to believe, but I did not want to part of the religious system. I still do not, and I am relieved Jesus does not expect that from me. The church he made has no walls made by men.

The proud who say they are atheist are in serious trouble because they have closed their hearts to the truth. They already completely belong to God's adversary.

Nothing made God. He is eternal and outside of time. He has always existed. He is the Eternal God.... Infinite.

We could ask similar questions: When did 2 + 2 = 4? If it is a true statement, then would it not always be true?
