Communication is critical for awareness, transparency, and trust.

Further, there's nothing wrong with having troubles, being human, delays, etc. if they're explained. Problems arise when folks are left wondering. Lack of communication can indicate nefariousness, secrecy, privacy, laziness, trouble, or other things from problematic to banal with few being good.
