I visited my mom. Every year, comedians in this country (the Netherlands) will do a "this year in review" type show and we watched those. At midnight we went upstairs to check the fireworks in the distance. And we listened to music and had oliebollen.

Oh is it like a Dutch version of the UK's "Big Fat Quiz of 2020" show with Jimmy Carr?

Sounds pretty chill. I had to look them up but oliebollen sounds good! Fried ice cream lol

I don't know that show. Our comedy is a bit different. We have cabaret, which is less focused on one-liners than stand-up comedy is. It's slower, has a narrative element, and includes music, often as interludes to pure comedy bits. (The comedian will sing, and often play piano alongside it.) In terms of form, the shows are quite typical, just that the subject matter is the past year. Oliebollen are great. Definitely try them if you come here during the right season.
