I think you are correct and he's simply deleting opinions of those he disagrees with, based on what I'm seeing in the modlog. He's been told to quit doing this, or lose mod privileges. I brought back all the deleted comments and un-muted the users

Haha that is ironic (or perhaps descriptive)... and in the thread about saidit he was complaining the mods don't have enough power on saidit. Hopefully he can now be a mod without censoring the opinions of others, but if not then he'll lose his mod privileges.

This is the reason we have mod rules on saidit, and if we let this continue unchecked then we're basically back to the reddit echo-chambers that made the site so unbearable to use. The mod fiefdoms that create echo-chambers gets old really fast, it's one of the things that I most dislike about reddit. Each subreddit is its own little minefield because of rampant mod power-grabbing, trying to control the information flow in a biased way. I'm also glad we have open mod logs to help expose bad and censoring mod behavior. Maybe in the future we could made a sub like "ModeratorCourt" or something where we can specifically have posts like the OP.

btw If you tag more than 3 users, none of them get alerted to their username mention. 3 is the max number you can tag and have them still get pinged. It's to prevent username ping spamming.

breaking: u/critias banned me and erased my same old comment for the third time just now, and set the sub to private, causing modlog to be unreadable.

Yes I think he's worn out all his chances and seems to be leaving anyway. He also made a thread on reddit complaining about saidit not letting him censor whoever he wants as a mod

Hmm and then he deleted every single post on /s/westernbetrayal, all the comments and posts from the last two weeks are gone, set the whole sub to private (again), and then deleted all the custom CSS and replaced it with custom CSS that makes the page display nothing.

What a tyrant. He's been de-modded and has officially lost his mod privileges since it's become quite obvious he just wants to control what others think, rather than have any sort of open discussion. That is exactly the kind of mod saidit doesn't need!

Too bad we lost all that content he deleted including the comments on those threads by others. I really hate stuff being censored. Oh well.
