I've seen this reported as her being variously 14, 13 and 12. People on Twitter are saying it doesn't matter what she did and that her actions shouldn't be questioned. I read in another article that the cops were arresting someone else and this girl went for one of the cops' handcuffs and whacked him on the head, possibly with an implement.

Pretty sure punching a young teenage girl 6 times in the face is not standard police protocol or even a legal response regardless of these details

My apologies, I get a lot of pro-police violence comments on these posts, especially if the victim is black, I was too quick to jump to conclusions there.

But yes, the reporting on this has been inconsistent. Dailymail said it was a 14 and 12 y/o fighting and the cop beat up the 12 year old, but I saw NYT reported he beat up the 14 year old, so yeah, someones reporting was sloppy
