Who does the banning on Lemmy? The instance owner?

Lemmy didn't even allow me to join, that's how "free" their speech is.

Despite saidit being a shithole regarding content, at least I don't feel oppressed.

I'm not sure exactly. Lemmy has pussy rules for the whole site so you can't give anyone a hard time or you get nuked. There are no ban messages just your account being dead. I think its the instance runners.

They sure love their "safe spaces". I consider anywhere I don't get banned a safe space. Funny how that works.
