They would have to turn off a lot of API calls that other sites use to stop this. That's not happening.

We'll see if Reddit allows him to continue through their IPO. My understanding is Reddit claims to have copyright rights to everyone's content, so it seems like a lot to "give away". Also ceddit is exposing a lot of mods for political censorship which Reddit probably isn't too happy about.

On the flip side, maybe Reddit wants the data to be out there for bot writers and maybe us Intel.
