When it's to an animal, everybody calls it innocent ignorance, maybe once in a awhile somebody calls the cops to report it as animal abuse, but that rarely goes anywhere.
At a certain point somebody's gotta grow a pair and explain to these people that torturing animals for their amusement is evil and a sign of mental illness.

I would never feed a cat a vegan diet, but cats do eat a fair amount of plants in commercial cat foods, and even a little bit in the wild. They can digest plants, it's just not as efficient.
So while it's a stupid thing to do, I don't if I would call it abuse. Vegan cat seems better than a homeless cat put down, doesn't it?

Many years ago I knew a woman who had a dog to which she fed cooked vegetables. I tried to explain to her that, being a canine, that kind of food was not only bad for the dog but would ultimately kill him. She ignored this. The dog was dead within six months. Cause of death: starvation. Tragic, because it was a really nice dog, too. (I should just have stolen the dog when I had the chance and I'm sorry I didn't.)
