Very interesting to consider... I think this guy might have a point.

I agree.

I've thought about how difficult it would be to shill at a conspiracy truth site without being affected by the facts that you learn while shilling.

I'd be thrilled to learn that some intel shill was saving everything until they got out of the service.

Then they could drop a conspiracy truth megabomb with a data dump.

TPTB could easily avoid this, if they had access to robot shills similar to the ones suggested in this post.

It's depressing news for the free-speech community.

Well looks like the whole website is now r/subredditsimulator.

That thread long ago about everyone on reddit is a bot except you now makes complete sense.

There seem to be at least a few of these bots on saidit now. My reasoning is that most saidit users are still reasonable ~ friendly so when I encounter one that is agressively unfriendly, that user, to me, stands out as a possible shill bot. I love the Account Suspended notice at the end. :)

[–]danuker 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

This is likely. You should make the account creation captcha harder or longer or more varied.

[–]roastpotatothief 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Accounts are probably created by real people, then sold to propoganda businesses.

[–]danuker 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Why wouldn't a propagandist create a new account instead of buying old ones? Here at least, there is not much that you get from having high karma.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Because a fresh account with 0 karma and the only post talks about being pro-[POLITICAL PARTY] makes it much easier to know that It's a shill

You think "script" and I think full-blown AI.

[–]ThePotatoOfDeath 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And we also consider the bot worm comments on YT as well. The ones which go like "Hey, wanna be friends?" usually but if you reply to them, your account gets hacked regardless of 2-factor authentication.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Reminds me of someone in these forums that accuses everyone of being a shill and keeps making accusations based on keywords.

[–]Hellothereawesome 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nothing unexpected at all honestly, but it's good to investigate.... We have to see what makes sense, and the continued wars dont make sense, the lockdown doesn't make sense, we can't rely on reddit and the government ran propaganda on there or on MSM

[–]whereswhat 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, there are probably more bots on social media than most people realize.

No, this redditor does not understand what they are talking about.

./pretendtoknowstuff.sh

So, shills all route their IPs through AmazonAWS, which is a kind of server farm.

At least I got a laugh out of it.

The threat of AI is not killer robots a la Terminator, it is the human mind.

Currently, they (the government, the social media and data companies, etc.) are evaluating what people are doing online to see where public opinion is swaying, to see how engaged the public is with the latest distraction (Russiagate etc), in order to manipulate and control.

If you think what's going on now is bad, wait until there's a quantum AI that not only has access to all your actions and movements but also is more able to predict your next move with perhaps a higher probability than you yourself are able to. The propaganda and manipulation will move out of the macro media level and into the micro level where it is tailored to each individual. This will be manufactured consent. As it is now people are cheering the censorship happening online, wait until their digital assistant tells them that those who don't tow the line have no rights to anything.

The counter to artificial intelligence is human intelligence. The AI will be able to regurgitate more information than a single person can comprehend, but humans can communicate with each other without AI and critically evaluate the information that effects them. Just as now, the key is critical evaluation and not believing something simply because it comes from an "authority". Each person has to do the work to understand the reality around them rather than have it dictated to them. There is value and "currency" in doing so.

I don't have the link off hand, but I recall this coming up with a thread on one of the Chans, and a Google whistleblower talking about AI bots on Twitter, and efforts to manipulate public opinion on a few issues

I wonder why all the dates are from 2017?

reddit is easy to cheat. You can create/buy multiple accounts and easily make it at the front page. Mass downvote and try to shut down people debunking you by calling them "conspiratards". You can even talk under multiple accounts to make it look like 10 people are debating against a guy with "an unpopular opinion".

You can visit r/shills If you want to know more about this

I'm confused, stuff like this seems to be a given at this point why is this interesting? Of course Reddit would have bots that comment, probably a ton of them. It doesn't seem to be that surprising. There are probably a bunch on sites that do similar things to try and replicate or manufacture traffic on their sites. Again, wouldn't be surprising in the least bit. These Reddit posts are becoming a bit stale. We know what Reddit is why do we keep talking about it? Oh wait I know, because it's an automatic front page Reddit hate circle jerk. Slow day on saidit? Post something about Reddit! Laughable

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Well given that many of the users here were on reddit for at least a few years as their "home", I for one find it understandable that they are not yet as comfortable here, in their new home, as they were in their old home before it was stolen from them and that as such, they might feel inclined to analyze what's going on with their former home.

Moreover, by analyzing the downfall of reddit, everything that is learned can be used to prevent the downfall of saidit.

Not laughable at all.

[–]astronautrob 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. Obvious things are usually not interesting. The fact that any mention of Reddit and it flies to the top of saidit is laughable to me. We can disagree on those points.

[–]FormosaOolong 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

If you read the whole post, the author mentions entire mod teams , and bots that respond with things like "You little bitch." Why should this be a "given", or laughable?

Imo it speaks to a larger issue--a much larger issue--of all social media being a giant manipulation that is not for anyone's benefit.

Plus, this is the sub called "MeanwhileOnReddit". If you find it stale, you are welcome to unsub.

[–]astronautrob 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Don't you think all major social media platforms employ bots? I'm sorry I just don't find that interesting. You're right though I can and will unsubscribe from this circle jerk. Thank you my friend.

[–]FormosaOolong 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, I think they all employ them. It was a surprise, however, to see an entire mod team made up of bots. That was useful info to me, though maybe I've just been living under a rock. I find unsubbing really makes my whole experience here more enjoyable.
