The problem is not just reddit. It is social media as a whole and by extension, geopolitics as well; which has reared its ugly head onto the internet.

Reddit became too big, and was then infiltrated due to the inherent paranoia of institutional forces not being able to control the narrative and allow free expression. Henceforth, the subversion tactics of derailing and altering debate by agents within the community. The same issue is everywhere, perhaps even on saidit? It is usually the most prominent posters that diligently work themselves to higher point account; but checking upon their post history will reveal a biased narrative along specific paths. It would also be those same agents, that accuse everyone else of wrong doing and will inflame tensions within debates to stifle free thinking or commenting. They seek to take over "the space" by muscling everyone out of having a voice. Thusly, they end up privatizing upon the whole site and taking it over against the freedom it posits.

TLDR: Social media is a dumpster fire because of based posters. Check out their high point status and insults (granted they will call you out on your temporary activity instead)!

They're not paranoid. They are correct.

Western governments have a limited ability to use physical force against their citizens. So they can't control the public's bodies, so they have to control their minds. So, propaganda is their most important tool.

They know that the overwhelming majority of the public are honest and decent.

They know that if the public understands what's really happening that they will organize to dismantle the current system, and reform their communities.

Right, that social control can also be achieved through business protocols but another peculiarity is that once reddit purged some of its user-base; other sites became deranged and authoritatively maniacal as well. Voat, poal, raddle etc. etc.

It seems to be a long con and some ideological network is complicit at these divide and conquer tactics across sites to keep generating toxic content and keeping things hostile. Shills, saboteurs and tyrants, the internet has yet to figure itself out!
