As a kid it didn't even ping me as something worth noting. In my childlike innocence and naive understanding of the world I used to think that it was how most if not all girls felt about each other. We just had to force ourselves to be with men for societal reasons was my thought process.

How many times have you heard straight women fawning over girl crushes, calling each other girlfriends, fake flirting with one another, bemoaning marriage and relationships with men, complaining about sex with men, proclaiming that friendships are stronger than any romance, etc? I thought we were the majority until I got older and the more obvious homophobia kicked in. My "most girls only really like girls better anyway" misconception quickly faded.

I do really love women. After years of hating myself for being a lesbian I now feel almost blissful that I can just exist while loving women and only women as a woman.
