How are the employees exploiting employers?

[–]Bigs 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (16 children)

By taking more in money than their time is worth (to them).

How do you determine whose time is worth more then others?

Well that depends who you are.

If you're the employer, it's the employees who earn you more actual money on the bottom line.

If you're the employee's manager it might be whichever employee makes you look good?

If you're the employee it's whichever employer pays you the most.

When I say the employee is exploiting the employer, it's simple enough. The employee, call him Bob, would prefer to sit at home on his ass. However Fred, the employer, needs a worker and is willing to offer Bob $xx to work. Bob exploits this need of Fred by offering his own time, which he values as less valuable than that amount of money - or he wouldn't work for that amount.

so you want to argue that bob should be paid less?

Heck no, I'm saying that Bob values the money more than his time, or he'd say "Fukit' and find an easier job, or suck cocks or something.

To Bob, that guy Fred is the sucker that pays him $xxx for goofing around "at work". Ultimately, Bob is exploiting the needs and greed of Fred, every bit as much as Fred is exploiting Bob.

It's a mutually-beneficial arrangement they both partake of voluntarily.

Quitting your job is seldom that easy.

Who said life was easy? Going to work isn't easy, not having a job isn't easy, nothing is easy.

Fact is, we're not talking about slavery here. This is voluntary exchange, where each party exploits the other.

So if you are stuck in a shit job because of a fucked up system that works against you its your fault?

I've been "stuck" in shit jobs a few times, and each time managed to wriggle my way out of that situation. More recently (15 yrs ago) I moved to a country where I don't speak the language and don't have a work permit, in a place famous for taking a decade or more to grant residence. Today I'm semi-retired, working part-time for more than most middle-class peeps earn working full-time (by local standards).

Woot :)

You know what pisses me off? When whiny types like you tell me I'm "lucky" to have a beautiful wife and daughter, nice house, a nice yacht, a nice truck, in a nice neighborhood, and only working when I feel like it.

Even a shit job pays enough to buy a book. You can learn stuff with books. When you learn how to help other people get what they want, they'll help you get what you want. Eventually, after a few fuck-ups and embarrassments, you'll figure out how to make enough to buy all of the good books, to take some courses, to learn some useful skills, and you can build on your experience.

Apart from being called "lucky" for working hard to improve yourself and thus your life, the annoying bit is once you've really got everything, the lifestyle, the toys, the money and the time...? Some shit like "covid 19" comes along, or at least the over-reaction to it, and then you really are stuck... And by my age you appreciate time, freedom and your health.

I'm not scared of covid, I'm scared I'll grow even more fucking old before these cunts stop whining about the flu ffs.
