It's about fucking time. People need to stop caring about being called bigots for simply wanting to investigate something. If dragging it out into the light of day makes it look bad then all the more reason to drag it out from the shadows.

The comparison to the Rotherham scandal is more than apt. The entire "grooming gang" abomination-- not just in Rotherham, but cities across the UK-- bears an unmistakable resemblance to this trans-travesty: both are wokeism run amuck. Sacrificing children (and particularly vulnerable children, at that) endangered by those seen to rank highest on the "pyramid of oppression". Muslim men of South Asian descent in the grooming-gang cases; trans people (or at least the loud, entitled breed thereof) in the Tavistock/NHS cases. It's the same SJW inability to perceive a wolf if it's dressed up in sheep's clothing (or, you know, "identifies" as a sheep) either way.

So glad to see this sanity:

The inquiry will form part of Cass’s final report but Javid is understood to want to begin making the NHS change its approach immediately. This week he told MPs: “The NHS services in this area are . . . bordering on ideological.”

I'm from the US and had never heard about this issue before but at least as the article's described it, it does sound like it has some parallels to our current situation with transgender ideology:

Some around him say the question has been likened to concerns he raised while home secretary about the failure to tackle child exploitation by gangs of predominantly British-Pakistani men in Rotherham. The senior government source said: “There is the same theme of not being afraid to tackle issues that others might prefer not to talk about.”

Anyone from the UK mind weighing in on that?

edit: Worth mentioning...

What is hormone treatment, what does it do and is it safe? Under 10 per cent of the children referred to the GIDS service are sent on for hormone treatment as teenagers. Such treatment often involves first puberty blockers to delay the development of adult sexual characteristics.

I'm glad it's only about 10%. Still, way too many.

...with Cass herself saying that “affirmative” and “explorative” approaches were not “mutually exclusive”.

Yeahhhh, I'm sure she's got to start off by saying "Hey, we can do both!" until public opinion has shifted to the point where it's safe to state the obvious: the "affirmative" approach limits exploration. You'd have to fundamentally re-interpret the word "affirmative" in order for those two terms to not be mutually exclusive... as in, "We'll affirm the realness of your feelings, and explore the objective bases for those feelings." Like, a CBT approach or something. Guess cognitive-behavioral therapy is bigoted now, though.

Pretty much exactly what's described. There were child sex abuse rings operating in Rotherham as well as Rochdale (whose victims just got an apology this week), mostly operated by south Asians. The police were slow to act even after alarm bells had been raised, partly out of fear they might be seen as bigoted for going after them, which allowed them to operate practically in plain sight for years. Additionally a lot of the victims were white, working class girls (with a good number of them being in the care system) which further delayed investigations, since the police often dismissed them as simply being easy and regretting it (same old story) whenever they did try to report the abuse that was happening, because why not throw in some sexism and classism to your list of fuckups

If you've ever watched Line of Duty part of the storyline is clearly heavily inspired by it

Wow. That's beyond messed up, thanks for the context. It's mindblowing what sort of behavior people will let go unchallenged because of fear of social rejection.

There's also another parallel to be found. People were too afraid to push on with investigating, for fear they'd be furthering bigoted preconceptions. But they were perfectly happy to use their preconceptions about working class white women as justification for that. "They were slags" "They were asking for it" "They were addicts willing to sell themselves for a fix"

Compare to now where the people who've been sounding the alarms (mostly women from a working class background in the UK at least) are once again having preconceptions used against them. "What do they know?" "They're uneducated" "They're just mums"

Damn, that is a fascinating parallel. That's so fucked up.

I wonder if it'd be useful to have some sort of list to reference about situations like this that are parallel to transgender ideology. Rotherham scandal, lobotomy movement, the "satanic cult" scare / multiple personality disorder panic...

the "satanic cult" scare

There's even a direct parallel there. Dianne Ehrensaft, who has claimed you can tell if a child is transgender at age two or three, based on behaviour such as trying to turn their onesie into a dress, wrote articles on satanic ritual abuse back in the 90's.

Yes!! I've heard of her. It's so infuriating to me that she's somehow flown under the radar and is doing the same thing all over again. People who have a track record like hers should have absolutely no authority or sway over child healthcare.
