It seems to me that women who become transmen are trying to escape something while many men who become transwomen are trying to chase something. The men are primarily going after lesbians and trying to have sex with them, which is why they're mostly sexually aggressive and are more subtle in their homophobia. It isn't the identity they're after so much as access to homosexual women's bodies. The women going after gay men, however, primarily seem to be more fleeing what they perceive to be societal pressures and expectations of women, like being quiet or prude or whatever. In escaping these expectations that only misogynists actually have, they flood to the opposite extreme, trying to be loud and vulgar all the time, not just in the bedroom. They may not be trying to access gay men's bodies so much as trying to escape being seen as (and thus feeling associated with) a woman.

If men are chasing women when they transition, and women are escaping womanhood when they do the same, then these differences make quite a bit of sense. Of course, there's always some of both. Many transwomen reject manhood and plenty of transmen are trying to fetishize gays as much as possible, but these may not be to the same degree among the two groups

This is probably the best summation I’ve seen.
