If you respect "self-ID" so much, then why won't you respect the fact that he self-identified as a gay man who did drag and not as transgender?

Side note: look at how this poem describes violence. The poem completely ignores any stories of real violence experienced by gay rights activists, in favor of implying that words are violence, e.g. "the ricochet of the real name" no you weren't literally shot when someone used the wrong name for you. I think that makes a mockery of the real violence that has, in fact, been directed at LGB and GNC people throughout history, and still is in many places throughout the world.

That's one of the things that should (but doesn't) peak ordinary LGBs: let's ignore life-threatening or lethal physical assaults on gay men (mostly but sometimes lesbians) while we cry about misgendering and other minor linguistic infractions.

Oh, and that poem was such an abomination that I had to stop reading 1/3 of the way through.
