Unpopular opinion incoming.

Western society’s move away from religion and towards secularism has left a hole in a lot of people’s lives. I think humans have some fundamental need to focus our energy on something that gives us some semblance of answers about ourselves and our world. Fifty years ago, this woman would just go to a Bible study or join some church committee to find the answers and belonging she’s searching for. Now, she’s navel gazing and obsessing over gender woo woo to fill that need.

I am not saying everyone needs to believe in God and go to church/synagogue/whatever. Forcing people into any belief is harmful. What I am saying is that our society needs a less damaging path for non-religious people to help them fulfill their needs. (And, no. I don’t think all or even most non-religious people fall prey to this. I think most of the TRAs we see are people who are lost and searching for what’s missing in their lives.)

Some will argue that humans are wired for religion of some sort. When we refer to some rabid sports fan and say "oh, basketball is his religion," I think we might not be far off.

The Woke Cult seems to be filling that religious gap for Generation Tumblr.

100% yes. The problem is that we’ve had centuries of struggle to get to the point where we can question religious beliefs and poke fun at them. (Checks and balance and all.) The Woke Cult is pooling together some of the worst negative aspects of religious fundamentalism (intolerance, gaslighting, witch-hunting, etc.) and not allowing for anyone to poke fun or ask questions.
