The sad thing is when I was a teen on tumblr, we were making those things up! I remember when romantic attraction vs sexual attraction discourse was starting on that hellsite. It was one of the things that helped me realize I wasn't straight, I had romantic feelings for women but only saw men as an option sexually because obviously women have to have sex with men (even if I didn't enjoy it, because no women enjoy sex with men, it's simply part of our womanly duties--seriously I wish we'd normalize women enjoying and desiring sex with men, I didn't have any female friends/relatives who talked about enjoying sex with their male partners until I was in uni soI really just thought all women hated having sex w men but put up with it!! Such an unhealthy dynamic for everyone's sexuality).

But it was such an unhealthy and untenable identity because it was based on me cutting up my attraction and allowed me to not have to examine my attraction to women and lack of attraction to men and hide behind "being a liberated slt owning my sexuality while also having romantic feelings for women and writing it off as 'qeer platonic feelings/not serious'".

Sometimes I feel bad about how much tumblr discourse has taken over mainstream political thought and discussions. Sorry Gen Z, if I'd known as an angsty teen that my generation's emo/tumblr phase was gonna have this long-term impact, I woulda just stuck with the haircut and not spread the genderwoo propoganda 😥
