Why? Saying "Not all men are bad" in response to a broad generalization being made about men is reasonable. Granted, we don't know the context of why OP's argument arose; maybe he was talking about a behavior that, say, 95% of men do, in which case it would be silly and minimizing the issue. But we don't accept people making broad generalizations about women or about LGB people, so why is it OK when directed at any other demographic?

I'm a woman and have feminist views myself, and I see no reason for feminists to endorse this kind of cognitive distortion. It's illogical.
