It's really frustrating that we seem to be the only minority not allowed to set any parameters around who's allowed to be part of the community.

Normalise gatekeeping.

Right? No one accused black people of gatekeeping when they told Rachel Dolezal to fuck off. Yet now we have to pretend that straight people who don't have romantic/sexual attraction or who want to have 3 fuck buddies at once are basically in the same boat as gays and lesbians.

The demonization of "gatekeeping". This is I think at the root of the big woke brigade in recent years. In retrospect it was the tipping point.

Suddenly it was "bad" to "gatekeep" things. And hate to sound like an incel, but it started with nerd culture. Then it exploded into anything online, and now it's spread to the LGB community (via the alphabet soup).

Gatekeeping is not a bad thing. It is what makes groups defined. If a group can contain everyone with no limits and no moderation of membership, it's purpose as a group is null. Which I think is, consciously or unconsciously, the point. But as you say, no one would ever accuse the black community of "gatekeeping" for telling some cracker with 1 black great grandparent that "no bub you aren't black".
