I think it's worth emphasizing that you want to find people who will bring out and encourage the best in you, as opposed to blindly encourage you. A tenent of TQ+ ideology and culture is to never "invalidate" someone who feels like a victim (if they can't reasonably be construed as victimizing someone else, at least).
