He's not an Aiden.

Damn, I really hoped that he was. I don't understand what gay men would gain from doing this?

Oh, because he's an asshole. He also rubbed women the wrong way (the few who haven't yet been banned from twitter) when talking about his and his partners surrogacy goals. He stated something to the effect that he and his partner "deserved" government funded surrogacy since their inability to have a child is a "health care" concern, or something to that effect. Apparently the UK government should just have it's own stable of uteruses available for pretentious gay assholes. Wait, found the thread... https://twitter.com/benjamincohen/status/1308382964439539712

And this is the same guy who thinks twaw. Wonder why he didn't find a lovely transwoman to be his surrogate?

Yeah, I don't like to mix my feminist views with my LGB views, but honestly, I'm totally against women being baby-factories. There are millions of kids who need adopting. And we can't even make a quip about renting out a uterus, because apparently this surrogate is supposed to be doing this for free? I don't know why but that bothers me even more. If the woman is going to put her life at risk (all pregnancies have this potential) and suffer through the body-horror of birth-giving, at least she should have compensation. (I can see from the tweet that this is a UK law issue, I'm just ranting because I have fee-fees about this.) I'm a woman who's chosen to never give birth or have kids, and I think deep down I believe that giving birth is a horror no woman should ever have to go through, even though objectively I understand that many women want to do it. So obviously this is coloring my opinions.

I 100% agree with you that surrogacy is a massive human rights violation. It should be banned, full stop. The fact that pregnancy wrecks your health, not even mentioning the emotional toll of giving up a child, is something that should never be commodified. I say that as a woman who wants to have my own children in the future.

But apparently we're living in Brave New World hell where horrors like surrogacy exist and are supported by the "left" as a "lgbt" issue.

100%. Nobody is entitled to having a child. We already as a species fail to take care of our companion animals; just look at the sheer number of animal shelters with abandoned pets. We absolutely fail at taking care of both vulnerable pets and children as a society in general. The idea of a human child being treated as a commodity that a gay couple is entitled to is not acceptable, especially given the sheer number of kids who are in need of adoption already.

I’m a man and it would be nice to have biological children of my own. But I still find surrogacy to be wrong. There are concerns about the natural dangers of pregnancy as well as my Catholic background, but my main concern is the child being separated from the woman who gave birth to him. Let’s not forget that what if the child falls in love with one of his surrogate mother’s own children or one of her nieces or nephews? There’s a reason why a lot of people have concerns about people having children outside of established relationships. Not to mention the fact that if my hypothetical husband and I became fathers through surrogacy, only one of us gets to be the biological father of the child. Even if we have two children through surrogacy, one from each of our sperm, each individual child will be the child of only one of us. This could lead to favourites.

Personally, I’d prefer to adopt. Also, my brother and sister can have their own kids, so I can always be there to help them raise my nieces and nephews. Not an uncle yet, but I’d love to be one.

Totally. Surrogacy is totally immoral. Women used as a baby making machine for some rich couples. It's too much capitalism. I'm only child, I'd love to be an aunt too. I'm not into parenting, but being an aunt, playing videogames with them , taking themto disneyland and shit like that. That would have been cool.
