That's a powerful story. It shows that it is very difficult to hide your sex from people you work with closely and often as well as the fact that transition, whether it be social or surgical, involves more than just personal choice. It impacts everyone you interact with and creates the necessity for you and everyone around you to lie to everyone else about reality. And in some cases, that can be disasterous

This is what's cooking my goose about trans recently. Take that Biden public health official, for instance. I'll never see that person as a woman. I'll never unconsciously gender them as a woman. They don't pass, and they never will. I know a bit more than the lay person, and it's obvious AGP to me. I know and understand their aetiology, I've read a great deal about it, theorized a bit about it as well, and generally find it fascinating. I cannot accept some sort of "woman trapped in man's body" narrative from them.

What I can understand, is if they instead said, "hey, I've got this atypical sexual interest that has turned into a mental disorder, it's called autogynephilia, here's what that is, my particular variety has caused me a great deal of distress, I tried to handle it without transitioning, and this is how I'm now dealing with it, I think trans issues are different from LGB issues, and would you please use she/her pronouns with me?"

The answer would be yes.

But there aren't enough people who would actually fail to handle it without transition and then choose to transition to push the agendas they need. If people learn to love themselves, they can't become sheeple to the cult, so people need to be conviced that transition is the only way, that any percieved failure is the fault of society, and that society is the one that's wrong for not making you feel valid and welcome, thus creating the us vs them mentality that all cults rely on so heavily

Yes, we can definitely look at how things are functioning today and recognize that it's no good at all. Everyone agrees. I don't think I'm naïve for wanting what I proposed above, which is cards on the table. Shine some sun on this train wreck, let everyone see all it's crumpled cars for what they are. My naïveté might be in thinking this is possible.

Oh, don't get me wrong, such a world would be amazing: one where people were free thinking and sought out what was in the best interest of themselves and others, and one might be possible with humans in it. My problem with it is I'm not sure modern cultures can be changed to allow it. Without fast and drastic change to the way things are done, I only forsee them getting worse from here.

But I might just be a nihilist with too little faith in humanity to fix the current state of affairs.

I sure hope I'm wrong

This is what's so upsetting about the trans people who don't care about anyone around them. This woman had no intention of hurting that boy who was immediately suspicious of her, but it isn't about her. The client's safety comes first when you work with mentally vulnerable individuals. She was kind enough to understand that.

Trans people who never attempt to understand that, or are too full of themselves to care, are monstrous and evil. Lying about a core aspect of your being is deceptive on several levels, and only gets more insidious when you do so in a setting like this. She is very brave for acknowledging how difficult this was. Her insights are spot on.

Good thread, but TRAs are going to say she wasn't actually trans. They will latch on to the fact that she says that she felt like she was "lying to people." The fact is for certain situations, what genitals you have are relevant. It's foolish to pretend that isn't the case just because a minority group of people aren't happy with their biological sex.

Yeah, you might even say she was "No True Trans-person"... hmm, funny, that phrase sounds familiar....

So important to hear her voice. Wow. I wish she would be called to testify at "Rachel" Levine's Senate confirmation hearing. Trans is a lie and it hurts other people.

Thanks!

Agreed.
