Cognitive behavioural therapy, yeah. I know it. It based on stoic philosphy. It's helps, but when you suffer from from anxiety and OCD, only therapy is often not enough. I've been suffering from it since childhood, it's biological problem, but depending on meds is scary

That is indeed heartbreaking. I wonder if u/VioletRemi has any wise words on the subject.

She's worried I become an asexual zombie too lol

Hmm, I'm not sure if it has origins in stoic philosophy per se, that's interesting though I hadn't heard of that. But, exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) is supposed to be one of the most effective therapies for OCD out there, and it is a type of CBT. Sorry to hear you been dealing with that for so long!

Yeah, my anxiety disorder has been really disability. Mental health suck. Really i would rather physical pain than mental one. And yeah, it come from stoic philosophy which is kinda the best mindset to accept hardship in life and things we cannot control but don't like. It very hard to assimilate though, especially for a ruminating anxiety prone mind like mine, but there is not better way to handle things in life than being a stoic.

Fuck yeah to Stoicism. Glad that your also talking about therapy and meds, really bothers me when people tout Stoicism as a cure all for everything.

Stoicism cannot cure pathological problems. But can help to handle it a lot. Therapy is based on that. Meds, I took it in the past, they help surely, save your life when you only think about killing yourself and make you fuction like a normal person, but I will try to not to be dependant. But if things get rough I will happily use it.

Yeah, Stoicism has helped me a lot, I think the more people that are aware of it the better it's a much healthier way of looking at the world. Stoicism for day to day living. Therapy and/or meds for pathological problems.
