"The gays" is an offensive term, because it's objectifying.

"Gay" itself is slang, and is not offensive, but it is ridiculous in my opinion. (And those of us who don't like it should be respected. I'm not happy, don't call me a synonym for happy.) The problem is when it's used as a noun, which isn't only grammatically incorrect, it is reducing a person to not only their homosexuality, but stereotypes associated with it. Nobody says "The gays" when they are casually discussing homosexuals in a benign context, eg discussing whether or not they can get married. It is pretty much exclusively used in stereotypical and demeaning contexts.

It's not, and "objectifying" itself is a Marxist rooted term. Just be aware of that next time you're just echoing empty platitudes you heard online.

Oh my god, some mean people use it in a mean way so ergo you can't refer to the demographics as "gays". That is such a low IQ take dude.

Do you have any other argument than "It's not?" Because it doesn't seem like you do, and people certainly wouldn't take it if I used that as MY argument against things I disagree with. (For example, I don't believe in systematic "Homophobia", but you bet your ass I'm going to give more of an explanation than "no u lying it's not real" over and over.)

To be honest you just sound like an annoying, self described "twitter gay" who constantly stereotypes others, makes people uncomfortable, then cries "homophobia" when someone asks you to stop calling people "bitchy slutty bottom queens" or something. Aka some of the people that further make me ashamed to be homosexual, if the physical problems, lack of healthy relationship possibilities and society looking down on me weren't bad enough.

For a community that's supposed to be "accepting" and "tolerant" the LGB sure is fantastic at doing the exact opposite of what it preaches.

"Don't call me queer but hunny ur not allowed to reject being called A Gay or a bottom sksksksksksksk!!1111111"
