It’s kinda like the “boy who cried wolf” fable. For decades, homosexuality was associated with paedophilia so a lot of people said that all gay men are paedophiles. After this turned out to be false, a lot of homophobic people continued or even doubled down on the rhetoric. It got to a point where normies decided that whenever a gay man has been accused of being a nonce, it wasn’t true, based on the assumption that the accuser just wanted to destroy a gay man’s life just because he was gay. But a small proportion of gay men are still paedophiles, just like a small proportion of straight men and a small promotion of women. Those paedophiles who happen to be gay are now taking advantage of the “boy who cried wolf” moral by dismissing their accusers as homophobes so they can get away with it, even if the accusers are well-meaning, even if the accusers are gay themselves. Now it’s a lot harder to go after actual paedophiles, while these hysterical homophobes who got us into this mess are going to use this as an opportunity to say “I told you so” and demand that our rights are taken away from us.
