And, I totally agree with you that "women being sexualized = empowerment" is nuts. I have NEVER related to that. EVER. I don't understand it.

I guess it's in a Cersei Lannister kind of way, when you somehow use your sexuality as trade for... Something ? But that's very much an exceptional circumstance in my mind.
