LGB, it's about sexual orientation (and our rights) not gender identity. I never got why asexual was apart of it, you're not interested in sex? ok, but I don't know anyone who lost a job, was discriminated against or assaulted because they were outed as an asexual. Same with Aromantic.

This. LGB and that's it. Asexual and aromantic have nothing to do with LGB culture or struggles. I would be willing to be swayed on the topic of intersexual people, maybe, but that's it.

LGB.

I have my sympathies with the small number of T people with real dysphoria, but it doesn't have anything to do with me. Intersex is not a sexuality either so it's up to them if they want to align with the T or not, but I doubt many really do. Asexuality and aromanticism are also not sexualities and "ace pride" is a cringefest of teenagers too immature for relationships and looking for a reason to feel special. They don't belong in spaces that LGB people have had to work for.

LGB only, which relates to same sex attraction

[–]WanderingElephant 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Sorry, but LGB. Everything else relates to medical conditions; preference or social politics. These are issues the LGB have had to persistently justify their DISTINCTION FROM for centuries. I will always have empathy for elements of the TQ+ but I would suggest our priorities, experiences and issues are very different based on these distinctions.

I'm not coming from an attitude that's denying people the way they see themselves or the world around them. However, L, G and B have something in common that we are naturally grouped together by: we're all same-sex attracted.

I genuinely believe asexuality, aromanticism, and transgender are real things, but I can only view them from an outsider's perspective. I have sympathy and can attempt to understand, but I can't really relate. And, to be real, my support for transgender has shrunk to supporting certain individuals whom I believe are sincere. Aces I appreciate and support, so long as they don't make their lack of sexuality substitute for a personality.

  1. "Valid" means nothing
  2. Asexual isn't an orientation
  3. Not loving anyone isn't an orientation, much less a minority
  4. Intersex refers to a group of medical condition(s) that are neither orientations, "identities" or "genders." Intersex people have asked, time and time again, to be left out of this alphabet soup.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual. It is all about sexual orientation to same sex as yourself. And nothing more.

The rest have absolutely different sets of problems and almost never crossing lines with LGB. We just want to live unnoticeable, and don't be afraid, and have basic rights, like marriage rights, so just to be like every other person. While TQ+ have absolutely different problems and positions, and they want society to change laws and to validate them, and to be visible.

LGB, all of which are orientations. Mind you, this doesn't mean I don't think the others shouldn't be treated equally, but the LGB can do better without the background noise of the others and vice versa. A good movement is like a poison. When combined into one goal or cup if you will it has a high strength. Whenever you pour the poison into multiple cups, it loses potency. Just like our poison a movement loses it's potency if you take too broad a stance.

LGB. Sexual orientation and rights. End of story. It's not public transportation, it's an acronym with a specific history.

LGB (including biologically same-sex-attracted people who are also under another letter)

There is an ongoing push at the moment to rename the acronym to GSRM (Gender, Sexual and Romantic Minorities) as LGBTQIAA2S+ is no longer viewed as inclusive enough. Fine by me. Everyone else can go to their groups over there and leave us alone. The only issue I have with that acronym is that it makes it even easier for the paedophiles to try and force their way in by claiming to be a sexual minority.

LGB, of course, because they have a collective interest, and everybody has a right to their own interests. We all want the best for people in wheelchairs, for instance, but being in a wheelchair has nothing to do with LGB.

what does valid mean here? that they exist? or that they are meet some criteria to be included in lgb? Intersex is "valid" as it exist. But LGB is not a medical condition. An lgb orginazation is set up to advocate for people who have to deal with people who are homosexual and the society they live in, i.e. civil rights and general advocacy. I don't see what rights people who don't wan't sex need... I think to many people treat the movement as a club and so the community needs to be inclusive, but it's not about inclusivity, it's about homosexuality, and by extension, bisexuality.

[–]shveya 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Gay Lesbian Bisexual

Gender identities would be unrelated to sexual orientation, even if they were valid. Asexual and Aromantic are just people with low sex drives because of anti-depressants, from what I've seen. Intersex is a medical condition that they have no control over, and I doubt most of them are very happy to be considered "alphabet soup people" by TRAS (the ones who want to include them, but also use their existence as a "gotcha").

Same as yours except I'd leave out aromantic.

LGB only. The rest is 'invalid' (to use their coded language) bunkum.
