Invest a couple hundred bucks in a digital antenna in the roof, you’ll get at least 20-30 channels for free. Most of them replay older tv shows which are awesome to watch because they’re not loaded with angry lesbian social theory.

For the rest, buy box sets, which you can also get loaned to you for free from most local libraries, and pirate the rest.

Hell, a cheap digital antenna isn't even that much. I have one since I don't watch TV but wanted to catch over-the-air channel for odd events if interested.

I've lazily put it next to the TV, haven't bothered optimizing the placement or angle what so ever, and it does its job. I never use it, of course, but I could. And there's a few channels that do play older TV shows if I was interested.

Only caveat is that I'm in an urban area. There are sites that'll show estimated receptions based on location though.

My $40 RCA along with an 8-channel amplifier work wonders, reusing the existing cables in my home. Fuck cable and satellite TV. OTA and streaming is it.

To be fair, they aren't losing subscriptions, they just aren't gaining them as fast as they assumed. Still, it's a good sign and a start.
