Its an intrinsically a human thing, we prefer feeling like we're right over having wisdom
I'm not sure if it's human nature, or just modern culture... I really can't tell which it is, honestly. But the culture could certainly be better to encouraging those values, that's for sure. It's true that gaining knowledge can sometimes be uncomfortable though.
