I figured this out decades ago. I remember being able to purchase fake hits to your website. It made the ranking go up. I started to also realize most websites were doing this and Alexa rating were real but the website were just using bots. So it was like 60% bots and 40% human.

The bots were also programmed to click on websites advertising.

It was all fake and still is fake. I purchased one time advertising then realized it was all a waste of money.

The ad click stats were real but it was just bots clicking them.

The person making the most money was the person creating the bots. The second person making the money was the website and last who was not making any money was the person who purchased the advertising space.

Most people purchasing the advertising space still think it's real clicks. They still haven't figured out why so many clicks but no one is buying their product

It's all fake

Don't purchase advertising. It's way over priced and most people only purchase from Amazon and never your website

One of the biggest beneficiaries of bots clicking on ads is Google. Advertisers are charged by Google directly. The more clicks, the more the advertisers are charged.
