Reformation Christianity in the 1700s had similar rules. It's all about keeping traditional religion and avoiding the degeneracy of religion which results in the degeneracy of everything else. Muslims and traditional Anabaptists are reasonably traditional. But Muslims have other problems. Visit your local mosque to learn more.

And how exactly did the campaign of avoiding the degeneracy of religion ultimately turn out?
I don't agree with the application of religious laws in a very strict sense either, be it Christian or Islam. But still just saying.

Very well during the Reformation. It produced the Enlightenment and all progress that resulted from that.
But religion, by itself, cannot sustain good culture for reasons I explained here.
