Athletes receive no benefit from high-carbohydrate diets. Very small amounts of carbohydrates are required to prevent hypoglycemia during exercise, but ingesting more than that will not produce a superior outcome, and may cause significant long-term harm.

The brain needs lots of energy to keep focused. They want to make sure the office drones stay awake even if it means their bodies turn to shit.
