Fecal transplants have also been done through the other end, which seems to me to be slightly less disgusting.

Did you know that part of childbirth involves a certain amount of fecal bacteria transferred from mother to child? In fact, people have even put samples on the skin of babies born via c-section to improve their gut biome. Very healthy actually.
