Originally, when graphics were shittier, he was meant to be androgynous so the player could either think of him as a feminine male or a masculine female, but eventually was settled as a feminine male. https://time.com/4369537/female-link-zelda/

They actually came out with a female version of Link, and sadly she's not masculine at all, other than the fact that she engages in combat. https://www.theverge.com/2015/11/12/9725908/nintendo-linkle-female-link-zelda-hyrule-warriors-legends

The funny thing is in Link's character design, during Ocarina of Time (the game book really shows what he's suppose to look like had the graphics been better), you can still tell that's clearly a male, in Breath of the Wild, that's still a male body. So when he says he intends him to be "androgynous", I really wonder what is his definition of "androgynous" or if he is making crap up. Seriously, a pair of earrings does not make him look female, it did make seeing a male wear a pair or earrings more normal and I thought that was pretty cool because I was a kid who loved earrings and disappointed when it seems like males can't enjoy something so awesome (this was before I was in my preteens, when I was not so cynical and looked forward to making new friends). Also knowing that I will eventually get earrings and have something in common with Link was cool as well.

I hated Linkle initially, but I eventually liked her character, her personality is almost like another childhood fictional character I wished to be like when I was a kid (and had a similar attitude to adventuring too).

Their title makes zero sense, those two things are contradictory and can't be existing statuses on the same person, but then again, it's a trans subreddit. They can make up all sorts of logic all they want and it doesn't even have to be logical.
