Yes, of course. There's been no sea change in behavior. It's just that adopting "identity labels" is the new fad, and "identifying as" a sexual minority immediately brings applause and increased social status. In fact, it now makes one seem superior, more evolved and utterly unassailable. So of course lots of people who want to give the impression that they are kewl, with it, open-minded and edgy are "identifying as" LGBTQ+++. But it doesn't mean their lives and behavior have changed in any meaningful ways at all. Or changed one tiny bit, for that matter. They're like people who in the 80s used to say liking The Smiths made them "vegans in spirit."
