[As I said in the title, I'm posting here because I don't have an invite, not that I need one after this. If anyone from there sees this and actually cares, you're welcome to share it wherever]
Hello all, thank you for this site and its content. I see you, holding the line.
I want to make clear up front that I am male. Ovarit is (and in my view should be) a female space. But following girl_undone's kind statement the other day I feel emboldened to reach out before I go back to lurking. Lurking like I used to do on other feminist sites, which brings me to my first point.
A long time ago I used to read a feminist, misandrist (jokingly - or not?) site which I will refer to as That Hot Bread to conceal this post from ill-intentioned searches. I believe many here on Ovarit ought to be aware of it. There's even a circle on here called 'The Tea', which I believe has its origin in a sister project.
One editor of the site, whom I will call Allory Mortberg, was quite famous. She has more recently come under the questionable tutelage of a socially powerful, and quite clearly insane, TIM. She has transitioned to male after/during some unaccountably public sexual 'awakenings' (read: she for some reason decided to embrace abuse and public sexualised humiliation).
When I found this out I was quite frankly shook. Whence misandry? What connection between misandry and later transitioning? What does this say about transition and hating the gender you transistion to? All unaddressed in her public writing as far as I can see, although I'm not going to wade through all the fart-sniffing and layers of Shrodinger's irony to check thoroughly.
There is a thread on Kiwi Farms (enter the French word for 'wash' into the search bar, should work) about the whole shitstorm. It's obviously biased but raises some good points and shows some shocking material. But why is there no such thread on Ovarit? Perhaps she's still connected or respected, perhaps those threads aren't public-facing. Perhaps it's because her husband has publicly expressed enormous pleasure in destroying Mortberg and you don't want to give him the satisfaction. Perhaps they're very litigious.
I guess I'm just expressing my shock and horror (if you don't think it's worthy of horror then check out the full story) to an audience that might understand.
Next a thought experiment:
I feel more masculine 'inside' than my body would suggest. Under gender ideology - once the obvious aims of TIM dominance are achieved, and I will not kid myself that the activists will care at all after that point - what stops me from demanding free hormones and surgery to alleviate that dysphoria? Is there any barrier within gender ideology itself to the concept of a masculine-to-more-masculine trans person, or a feminine-to-more-feminine trans person? Perhaps they're just expected to use their natural gifts as well as possible, but if distress and suicide are the worst possible symptoms of GD and therefore we medicalise it - well, how many suicides per year are carried out by men who feel insufficiently masculine, and women who feel insufficiently feminine? That's even aside from the question of whether those feelings are themselves the root of wanting to transition.
I mention this as a reductio ad absurdium-type argument, which someone more talented might turn into rhetorical dynamite like what I see on here. Of course, perhaps what I've described is the future ... everyone medicalised into gender conformity, with the driving symptoms being distress caused by bullying, social media self-comparison, and excessive focus on the gender roles which should always be optional in a modern society anyway.
That's all, perhaps I'll post again next year!
