No idea how they would expect that to be implemented. Customers have expectations. National chains have layouts already decided. This is a BS statement bill.

Yep, it's a stupid bill.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're banking on the economic weight of California's large population to force department stores to reorganize everything so that product can stay in that state. The other options would be to pull out of California, partially or entirely, or create separate packaging just for California. Of course, that assumes they have any genuine desire to pass it and it's not purely virtue signaling garbage. A $1000 fine is pocket change to a store that size.

Every time you think that the California state legislature has passed the looniest bill they could possibly have passed, they outdo themselves.

It doesn't matter if children's sections categorization is gender neutral, the parents will associate it to gender anyways..

At least from the excerpt it seems the only thing necessary to comply with the bill is to take down signs that say boy or girl. The thinking behind this is so bizarre. The type of parent who won't buy their son a skirt or something from the girl's section are not going to be swayed to permit it because it is from the gender neutral kids section.
