When this sub was still on reddit, the majority of people were leftist, feminist women.

Saidit is mostly visited by right-wing conservatives who are not feminists and care as little about women's rights as TRAs do. The sub seems invaded by them, on reddit they were less than 5% and easily downvoted, but here it feels like it is half the population of the sub. A major indicator of this is the difference in Trump support.

I'm afraid there's little we can do about it, besides advertizing for the sub on reddit where we can fetch feminists more easily.

In a way, it's understandable. I utterly hated Trump just a year ago, and now I regret that he didn't win the election. So, it's not surprising that feminism moved to a right-wing website......

Trump is the embodiment of what we fought against as feminists. He's a self-admitted and proud sexual harasser, a prostitution buyer, not mentioning the rape lawsuits. He got conservative judges in the supreme court that are against abortion.

Trans issues do not matter at all compared to those issues. I'm annoyed by Biden pandering to the TRA crowd, but at least every other women's rights will be safe.

Feminism cannot be right-wing in a country where the right wing fights against women's rights as basic as abortion.

Trans issues do not matter at all compared to those issues. I'm annoyed by Biden pandering to the TRA crowd, but at least every other women's rights will be safe.

Pray tell, please name some of these other women's rights you say will all be safe.

Biden has vowed that in his first 100 days his number one priority is to pass the misnomered Equality Act that advances the interests of "trans" and the gender identity crowd - and male pervs and predators - by getting rid of sex segregation in all public accommodations such as changing rooms, toilets, shelters, refuges, sports, prisons, medical care including intimate home care, and so on.

He has said that on his first day he will reinstate the Obama-Biden administration guidance rewriting Title IX so that students' "gender identity" not their sex will be what determines which school locker rooms, bathrooms, sleeping accommodations they use and which sports they compete in. Goodbye female sports and female privacy, dignity and safety.

The new laws and rules Biden wants to bring in will have wide-ranging deleterious impacts that personally affect ALL girls and women in the USA at all stages of the life cycle from pre-puberty to old age. Whereas it could be argued that access to abortion affects only some female people, meaning those who would avail themselves of abortion and might need one, which many women won't coz of religious and ethical reasons. Moreover, it could be argued that even if we look just at the subset of women who might be willing to have an abortion, the fact is that abortion access personally affects women during just one phase of our lives - a time that for many is less than half the full female life span nowadays.

I'm not saying these are my arguments. Just saying that is what could be argued.

Fact is, lots of Americans don't believe that in order to save the abortion rights that only some women want and might avail themselves of, ALL women and girls should have to give up the right to have female sports; to lose the ability to change, shower and use public or communal toilets without boys and men looking on and waving their dicks around; and to forfeit the right we have now to require that intimate bodily care such as help with toileting and bathing that many of us need when ill, disabled or elderly will be provided only by other female people. Yet all those other things are exactly what the Dems want ALL girls and women to have to give up forever in exchange for the DEMs supposedly supporting the right to choose - a right only some of the female population will need or avail themselves of, and which according to the latest Pew poll 40% of American women don't support.

I'd prefer girls and women's not only keep all our existing rights including abortion, but that our reproductive rights as well as our rights to sex specific sports, spaces and services be ring-fenced and strengthened by the Dems and the government. Instead, the Dems are saying we have to give up a whole barrel of rights for them to allow us to keep one.

Those are sadly pretty convincing arguments... if onyl dems didn't waste so much with that bullshit

[–]MarkTwainiac 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

So are you saying there's no credence to your earlier claims that "trans rights" don't impinge upon women's rights and under Biden all women's rights will be safe?

[–]Archie 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I never said any of that, please don't lie or misrepresent my claims. I respect your posts on this sub. What I said was that access to abortion was more important than the rights than Biden threatens, and you presented some good arguments against that.

[–]MarkTwainiac 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

In your original comment I was responding to you said

Trans issues do not matter at all compared to those issues. I'm annoyed by Biden pandering to the TRA crowd, but at least every other women's rights will be safe.

Then I asked you please to name all these other women's rights you say will be safe. Which you didn't do.

Now you say

I never said any of that, please don't lie or misrepresent my claims

How is quoting your words verbatim lying and misrepresenting what've you've written?

[–]Archie 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

which you didn't do

I believe I very explicitely mentioned access to abortion in my original comment, and you answered it well.

Less explicitely, under a Trump government with more and more Trump administration-appointed judges, you can expect that court will less often side with women in most sexual harassment, assault and rape cases (as the vast majority still doesn't come from TRAs).

Quoting your words verbatim

Please quote where I said that under Biden, all women's rights would be safe. I obviously disagree with this position as he panders to TRAs.

See, the problem is that after four years of everyone constantly screaming how cartoonishly evil Trump is, I don't believe it anymore. At best, he's just a puppet. Real villains do not let the media and the population tear their image apart for four years.

Right-wingers may want to limit abortion; but left-wingers may want to erase the very existence of women as a category. In this case for me it's choosing the lesser evil.

[–]Archie 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Well, have you noticed he's still denying having lost the election? It isn't anyone's fault but his that he's seen as a cartoon villain. This is a single example among a long history of similarly ridiculous stuff.

Hard to argue with your second paragraph ; the best course of action would be to change dems opinion on this stuff but it seems hopeless for now

[–]QueenBread[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, have you noticed he's still denying having lost the election? It isn't anyone's fault but his that he's seen as a cartoon villain.

That's simply because it works. He's not that stupid, he acts stupid. Because that means we get to talk about him all the time. Also, believe it or not, the masses LOVE voting for the stupid.

You know, my country, Italy..... had a Trump-like president many years before Americans. Now, because Italians aren't Americans, we didn't scream about fascism or the end of the world, but yeah. Berlusconi was exactly like Trump, almost as if they were made from the same mould.

Somehow, that guy kept being elected even if everyone was hating him and making fun of him. Not many admitted to voting him, yet he won, while he'd say completely insane stuff like telling president Obama that "he looks pretty tanned".
